AMEL International's mission is to preserve and protect the past for future generations by promoting and funding projects of historic significance in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
AMEL International Trade Ltd. was incorporated in 1985, and is owned and operated by David H. Peiffer of New Cumberland, Pennsylvania. Terrill J. McLean (Jim Thorpe, PA) is chief design architect specializing in restorations and renovations. Charles Bowman (Hanover, PA) is expert mason and general contractor for all AMEL building projects.
Active in Cumberland and Carbon Counties in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, AMEL seeks to preserve artifacts, and historical structures and the history surrounding them.
AMEL became involved in the restoration of the walled remains of “The Castle” in 2007 (Jim Thorpe, PA) built by Dr. B.S. Erwin, personal physician to industrialist Asa Packard and his family. Once completed, AMEL plans to rebuild a small portion of the down track of the Switchback Railroad which runs the southern length of the property.
In 2013, AMEL worked in tandem with The Peiffer Memorial Arboretum and Nature Preserve Inc. to excavate and rebuild the William Black Spring House (New Cumberland, PA).
There are so many ways to support our mission. Contact us to find out more about employment, volunteer opportunities, fundraising and more.
